Young Equals is a group of charities and children and young people who are campaigning to stop age discrimination. On Thursday 28 August, Young Equals is holding a day of action to gather evidence of age discrimination from all over Britain.

A new equality law is being planned for Britain. This will bring together all of the laws about equality. It will give protection to people who are left out of equality laws at the moment. The Government wants this new law to stop age discrimination in services and facilities but it is not convinced that children and young people should get any new protection. The Government says that only adults should be protected from age discrimination. We don’t agree!

We’re now collecting evidence of age discrimination against children and young people (under-18s) in the services and facilities they use. This includes education, health, social care, police and emergency services, public transport, parks and open spaces, restaurants, hotels, shops – anywhere children and young people can go or any service they can use.

The campaign is co-ordinated by CRAE and campaign members include the British Youth Council, Children’s Society, Save the Children UK, the National Children’s Bureau, NCH, NYA, Youth Access, NSPCC and Families Need Fathers.
