The best people to take action on children’s rights are children and young people – no one knows about or understands your lives better. That’s why we’re supporting children’s rights champions across England.
Pledge Month
November 2008 is Get ready for change! Pledge Month. During Pledge Month, young children’s rights campaigners will be working hard to encourage their local decision-makers to make a children’s rights pledge. That’s a public promise to improve the lives and rights of children and young people in the local area. They will be running local events and workshops on children’s rights, and meeting with local decision-makers to encourage them to take action to support children’s rights.

Top tips
Spread the word about children’s rights – tell your friends, your brothers and sisters, the people you see every day, and all the adults you know.
Take a stand on the things that matter to you.
If someone is not respecting your rights, try and tell them.
Remember that you are important and everyone should treat you with respect.
Find adults who can help you speak out and make a difference.
The Get ready for Geneva network of children’s rights champions is growing every day. Our children’s rights champions are working hard in their communities to campaign for change, and to encourage local decision-makers to make public promises to improve the lives of children and young people.
